Wear a Hat for Kat:
To help raise awareness of the importance mental health understanding Danuta organized a "Hat Day" for May -Mental Health Month at the Voorhees Breakfast Rotary Club. The funds raised were donated to the Alzheimer's Association.

This daily correspondence between schools she attended and us gives you a glimpse of our daily life. Most parents of typical children do not communicate on daily basis with the teachers. This gives a reader an insight to how important daily communication is for a child with autism.
Kat has attended school since she was 3 years old. These are school notes that were result of correspondence with her parents and her teachers. We have made comments at a later date reflecting back on the impact of these events. Kats School Notes Index

Kat did well today - very little protests about work ! She was very affectionate to me at lunch & asked to play outside !
Can we tutor another evening the week ? Fr. had a 103 degree temp last night & I want to keep a watch on her . Any other night is ok ( 4pm still or would you rather go after school or later?)

Yes - one day next week is good . I'm sorry to report Kat was very disruptive on the bus she got out of her seat , kicked the aide in the stomach & was crying on her way in. I'm going to try talking to the bus people to see what we can do . She even tried to me when I spoke to her about it. I had her sit on the floor w/ her feet down until she was calm . She also was not able to buy her book that she brought in .

8/13 Hi would it be all right if I brought Bridget (11:30) for lunch today and she could stay until 1:30 PM . I have to pick Kat up at 1:30 Anyway ? Please call me this morning if you do not call Iwill assume its o.k.
PS. Monday is good anytime for us .
8/13 Bridget was a great help for us at recess . She thought of a lot of neat games. How about Mondays at 9:00 ? ('til lunch or whatever is good for you )
She did a good job w/ new reading cards/answering questions .

Kat said " vacation ! " ( an even bigger word ) We had a sm. party w/ movie & ice cream ( hope it's ok )
We all sang the "Good bye" song to her .
